Devil 2023 Movie review

Devil: The British Secret Agent exceeded my very low expectations and ended up being a very good movie. Even if it’s not among the top films of the year, I was really pleased by the effort it put into telling a tale from a different angle. The clever screenplay structure of the well-written plot takes a surprising turn in tone, transitioning from a murder mystery to a predictable patriotic drama. What made the movie noteworthy was how well it incorporated these components into the larger story, demonstrating careful craftsmanship, rather than treating them as a simple diversion. Aside from this, I thought the James Bond-style title cards were fantastic.

However, there are a few things that could have been better, such as dialogues, clothing, and personality traits, which seemed a bit out of sync with the pre-independent india setting. Also, the climax battle suffers from laughably bad choreography, which could be a sign of a change in direction during that particular sequence, which was directed by abhishek nama, whereas the rest of the movie maintained the same style under the original uncredited director. While the film’s score is generally good, it sometimes drowns out dialogues, making them inaudible.
